2009 Epinephelus Bruneus, The world's first success

Epinephelus Bruneus is grouper of cold area and it has strong capacity of adaptation. They can survive temperature range between 5°C and 33°C. There are 6 to 7 dark oblique lines. They appear mainly south of Kyushu, Japan and in rock reef area along Korea, Mainland China and Fukien and they live in shallow to deep cave and they are moving independently than in group, but they have been found in group in fish shelter.
 
They are waiting and ambush type and activities are found in evening. When watching in aquarium, they are active in the night when they are with empty stomach. We are still trying to detect they egg-Iaying period. In our lab, there are 3 fishes of same species, but only one of them is real one. The meat is of high quality and is the favorite of Japanese They are the top grade food for Japanese chafing dishes in winter. With over cropping, the production is on the decrease.
